As I gaze into my crystal ball, I'm seeing a palette in your future. Could it be the Urban Decay Feminine eyeshadow palette for Holiday 2012? Shrouded in lace, fishnets, and artfully faded color, the Feminine palette has an air of mystery that is anything but usual.
The Urban Decay Feminine palette has the prettiest and most intricate patterning of the three holiday palettes (the other two being Fun (reviewed here) and Dangerous). The variegated faded purple fabric is draped in a black lace pattern printed on the clear plastic casing.
The eyeshadows sit in a fishnet patterned tray that can be removed from the zip packaging (see below). Don't worry about it falling out though, as the magnetic force holding it in is quite strong. The pouch can be re-used to store 'makeup, pens, or prophylactics', however not credit cards, as the surface is magnetized.
The Urban Decay Feminine palette comes with a miniature lip gloss in a squeeze tube that has the classic cutout cap detailing. The black ribbon in the case is there to help prop the gloss out.
The colors in the Urban Decay Feminine palette include faded gypsy purple, bottle glass green, and smoky grey. Wallflower Lip Junkie is a neutral nude pink cream gloss. Bordello is a pale mauve pink shimmer with flecks of gold micro-glitter. Skimp is a pale beige shimmer that reminds me of parchment. AC/DC is a light smoky purple with shimmer. Gunmetal is a popular metallic grey that you might recognize from palettes past. Hijack is an intense metallic teal shimmer. Lost is a neutral to warm medium brown shimmer.
The Urban Decay Feminine palette has a thematic air of mystery that pervades from the packaging down to the cosmetic color scheme. It's the feminine-with-an-edge feel that Urban Decay is so good at doing. I love the soft interpretations of color that are unexpected, yet wearable. I'm especially looking forward to incorporating Bordello and Hijack into my current routine. Thanks for reading! Do you see an Urban Decay Holiday palette in your future? Which colors in this palette jump out at you? Are you surprised at this interpretation of feminine?
Love, Dovey.
P.S. The Urban Decay Dangerous review is coming soon, so stay tuned!

Such a romantic pallette & lovely packaging♡♡
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate! I agree, the packaging is unique.
DeleteI would personally wear all the colors in this palette including the lip gloss. This is by far my favorite. I can't wait to see Dangerous though...I just saw you in my copy of October Allure magazine, you are very elegant and gorgeous! Congrats again!
ReplyDeleteHi Rola, I do think this palette is the easiest for everyday wear. Dangerous is great too, albeit in a completely different way. Thank you so much for the kind words about Allure! I'm so happy you took the time to read the article :)
DeleteBeautiful. This would be the one I would pick for myself. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura! :)
DeleteI have to say, the swatches are amazing, in the pan they don't look so complex and nice. I agree, the pattern is very beautiful! I especially like Bordello, Skimp and ACDC. Actually, I am a bit surprised by the interpretation ... for some reason, when I think of feminine, I don't think of colours like Gunmetal or Hijack. I also wished, they would include an other colour, not Gunmetal (it seems like it's everywhere, haha) / Claire
ReplyDeleteThank you Claire! I find swatches helpful too (well, maybe it's why we blog :-)) Gunmetal is a nice color, though as you mentioned it's in NAKED and other palettes!
DeleteI absolutely love the design on the case; it's what originally drew me to this palette out of all three. Like above, I will agree that the colors don't really stand out too much at first glance. However, seeing swatches makes me really want this palette now.

Hi Chrissie, Thanks for the comment! The case is really beautiful and multi-dimensional!
DeleteThis one is definitely softer, but pretty! I'd still prefer an eyeliner to gloss though, but that's because I'm not a gloss girl :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sunny, Ah, I know what you mean. I liked their 24/7 liners too and am more of a lipstick girl. That said, I liked how the Feminine gloss is very simple and lacks shimmer.
DeleteStunning photos...
ReplyDeleteThanks PK!
DeleteI would never use the other palettes but this one I love! And Gunmetal is a super intriguing shade. Very very tempted.
ReplyDeleteHi Liz, awesome! Gunmetal is one of Urban decay's greats. I can't even count the number of times I've reached for the color in my NAKED palette...
DeleteThis is just beautiful! They're all muted loud colors. I really dig it! I might just snag this up near Christmas time. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Maggie, Thank you! I love the idea of 'muted loud colors'; it's a great description!
Deletethe colors look very fairy like! i like i like!
ReplyDeleteHaha, thanks J! There is some kind of otherworldly feel to the palette
DeleteSo lovely, I may have to pick this up soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks Emily, let me know if you do!
DeleteI can't decide which I like more, Dovey, this or the palette with Fun palette which is ... well, fun! I think the combination of colors here is a comfortable mix of color and neutral which I'm a bit more attracted to by nature :)

Hi Jessica, you're right, the descriptors are quite telling! I think many will find the 'colors' here to be quite wearable, yet intriguing
DeleteI really love this palette! It's a shame that UD doesn't ship to Canada or else this would be one I'd be buying through their F&F sale!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is a nice color combo! i like it! :)
