Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau de Toilette review

Back in June, I started a self-imposed fragrance ban (see post here), effective until I review all my deluxe sample size fragrances. It is an attempt to curb my enthusiasm for new scents, as well as to enjoy and carefully contemplate the samples I already do have. I started with MARC JACOBS Daisy Eau de Toilette to get it out of the way. From an impression years ago, I thought I hated it. It was a time when I loved bursting florals with bright citrus or green tones and Daisy is none of that. Lately my scent palate has changed. I have more of an appreciation for soft and subtly cheerful fragrances and was delighted by what I smelled this time around.

A real-life daisy is a whimsical, lighthearted flower.... without a scent. Marc Jacobs  has personified the flower with the imagined notes of: strawberry, violet leaves, ruby red grapefruit, gardenia, violet petals, jasmine petals, musk, vanilla, and white woods. When I experience the fragrance, I mostly pull out a sweet strawberry (one of my favorite fruits), along with a hints of a modest floral (the violet). The scent is smoothed out with a light warm base of musk and clean wood, which I can discern only when I concentrate. Daisy is not a very tiered scent. It's mostly in the easygoing mid range without strong top or base notes.

Overall, I love MARC Jacobs Daisy. With its strawberry floral scent, it's a gorgeous fragrance for the young or young at heart. I want a full bottle (and one of MARC JACOBS Eau so Fresh which I've mentioned previously here). However, if I do want to get my hands on Daisy or any other full sized fragrance, I better put the pedal petal to the metal and get on with my reviews! Thanks for reading! Have you tried MARC JACOBS Daisy? What did you think? Which fragrances have been on your mind lately?

Love, Dovey.

light florals like this usually work for me but strangely, this particular scent gives me headache sometimes. i wish i could wear this, though!

    1. Hi Lena, Thanks! Too bad about the headache; I get those too in response to certain fragrances, which make them an obvious no-go!

  2. This is a nice fresh and soft scent, great for summer (or summer evenings). I like soft and musky scent actually (also powdery, etc). I think it always depends on how it will transform on your skin. I have far more 'stronger' scents than 'fresh' once for some reason but I like the soft ones as well, hmmm, I wonder why D:

    1. Hi BronzerBunny, I think the 'skin transformation' too; there have been scents I've enjoyed on paper strips but not when I wear them!

  3. I've been meaning to get a roller ball of this for the longest time! The full size daisy bottle is too cute to resist though :O

  4. I really do like the Daisy fragrance, but I believe the Eau So Fresh is much more ME (I'd have to take another sniff and compare the two just to be sure, though! It's hard because they're both so lovely!). I am so happy that Sephora has the rollerball trio of Oh, Lola!, Daisy, and Daisy Eau So Fresh for only $38--I think it's a great way to try fragrances. I like Oh, Lola--not as much as the other 2 but enough that purchasing the trio makes complete sense

    1. Hi Becca, I LOVE Eau so Fresh too. It's so light and pretty. I did not know Sephora had that trio available; it sounds amazing because I like Oh Lola! too :)

  5. I love Daisy as well, it's very fun and young. I want to try out that same rollerball trio though that Becca mentioned as I've heard fabulous things!

  6. It's a scent I always reach for in spring. It's so fresh, feminine, and happy. It's a "simple" scent that makes you think of riding a bicycle (with a basket no less!) through a field of flowers. It also won a Fifi award several years ago as best perfume of the year or something...it seems the formula is well respected in the perfume industry...interesting because it's appeal is so youthful and "mass" so to speak...

    1. Hi Beauty Box, I think it's just that---- a happy, simple scent! I did see that fifi too; although it is a young scent there's something balanced and new about its simplicity (maybe it's the strawberry)

  7. I was given a large bottle as a gift 3 years ago and haven't really used any of it since. It's not that I dislike it, I just prefer other scents more. I think it's a bit sweet and mellow for my tastes. But I love the bottle. I prefer Eau So Fresh actually, but I don't have it :p

    1. Hi Sleepandwater, I've had this little bottle for probably just as long and haven't used it yet! Somehow a few years was all I needed to fall in love again! I may prefer Eau So Fresh; I have to go back and smell it!

  8. i LOVE daisy. it's one of my favorites. my only complaint is that it's an eau de toilette, I wish it was a full on parfum. It fades a little too fast for me. I get the cheaper roller ball and using that helps.

    1. Hi Kristi Marie, I know what you mean--- so many light scents fade too quickly! A rollerball sounds like just the right solution; I'm hoping to get one of the sets that has a rollerball included :)
