Tarte 12-hour Amazonian Clay Shimmering blush in Glisten review + swatches

Tarte 12 hour Amazonian Clay Shimmering Blush in Glisten is a pink sunrise shimmer that imparts a fresh morning glow to the cheeks. Glisten is one of four shimmering shades that were introduced as a followup to Tarte's popular 12-hour Amazonian Clay Blush line.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Glisten is packaged in the color-coordinated plastic packaging that is typical of the Amazonian Clay Line. The Tarte logo is raised in the plastic itself. The packaging isn't quite luxe, but it is cheerful and makes it easy to figure out which color is housed inside. The pan is embossed with a representative image of what I assume is the amazon river.

As its name suggests, Tarte 12-hour Amazonian Clay Shimmering Blush in Glisten is a long lasting blush. Whether or not the blush will last the specified twelve hours is debatable and depends on what kind of foundation, primer, and skin you have. The blush is also quite pigmented and the pan's texture seems to be fairly firm, not soft. The embossed image seems pretty hardy and should last through several uses.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Shimmering Blush in Glisten is the quintessential shimmery peachy pink. It turns out that I have various iterations of the same color in my collection. Tarte Glisten seems to be most similar in color to NARS Deep Throat blush, though it is a bit more pink and less peach. NARS Orgasm is even more peach with a golden sheen. Laura Mercier Sweet Mandarin is a bit darker and more coral. Chantecaille Coral (from The Coral Reefs palette) is lighter and more peach. Overall, Glisten is a tad more pink than the rest of the peachy pink colors in my collection.

Overall, I think Tarte 12-hour Amazonian Clay Shimmering Blush in Glisten is a beautiful blush. Every girl needs a peachy pink like this in her collection; that said, you may find that you already have a similar color in your collection! Thanks for reading! Have you tried any of the Tarte Amazonian Clay shimmering blushes? Do you have any favorite Amazonian Clay blush colors? What are your favorite peachy pinks?

Love, Dovey.

  1. This one is utterly adorable! I have 3 of these, but on me they don't last 12 hours, and they oxidize FAST on me in hot and humid weather (granted I no longer live in such a climate, it was eye-opening this year when I went to Taipei with a couple). It's a REAL pity because I love practically all the colors in the line and would have loved to collect them all!

    1. Hi Sunny, Oooh, I didn't know about the oxidation! I don't really expect makeup to last as long as advertised. As long as it's long, it's good with me! I really think the lineup has a lot of good colors too!

  2. I really really want to try these blushes! Especially that one in Exposed. I keep hearing a million great things about it. Glisten definitely looks like Deep Throat the most (which I have), but indeed more pink than the rest of them. Shimmering clay blush sounds like a nice branching out for them though! :)

    1. Hi Maggie, I've been eye-ing Exposed forever too! It's really one of the best blush colors out there :)

  3. Ugh, I love this blush. One of the things I miss since I veganized my collection (it's got carmine, nothing too terrible, but still). NARS Orgasm has always made me look ruddy/ill, but this one is the perfect peachy-pink shimmer!

    1. Hi Sarah, it's awesome that you went vegan on your collection! What a shame that there's carmine :/ NARS is a bit ruddier, so I think I'd agree with your assessment that this one would be a little less so.

  4. I love this one too even though the sparkles annoy me haha! But I just flick them off my brush and I am happy!

    1. Hi Tracy, I know about those sparkles. It is convenient that they fall off though. The pan looks pretty, and the face stays glitter free :)

  5. I have this and love it. I have a few of their other colors too, in different sizes. I love how the large ones can be pushed out and placed back in and HELD with a big ole' magnet.
Thanks for showing this with other products similar to it, that's always very helpful.

PS You put 'Lush' instead of "Blush" in the title, lol

  6. I have this shade and love it! I don't think there is a single shade in the Amazonian Clay line up I haven't enjoyed though. :) I'm pretty obsessed!

  7. I have 2 Amazonian Clay blushes - Dollface & Exposed. Lovely blushes although I don't get the 12 hrs of wear advertised.

    1. Hi Kristi - both colors are the my favorites (a.k.a. the ones I'm always eye-ing from the non shimmer line!)

  8. How do you feel about the texture, Dovey?? I wanted Exposed for a long time and when I finally went to Sephora to purchase it, I backed out because the texture seemed so hard. It was pigmented, but hard--and also didn't seem to blend well AT ALL. Maybe it was some weird fluke?? I've never heard anyone else mention this problem, so maybe it's just me...

    1. Hi Becca, Good point. I do find that the texture is 'harder' in the pan than some other blushes, which is especially evidenced by how long the shape lasts. That said, I can pick up enough on a fluffy brush for my liking. I usually like my colors more diffuse, so I find it to be a good thing for me!

  9. What a beautiful blush Dovey! It looks very similar to Orgasm :) I love peachy pink blushes, it looks so sweet and flattering. Sadly it's pretty hard for me to get Tarte blush on my area. I have heard lots of good things bout tarte but have never tried.

    1. Hi Memoiselle, thanks! What a shame that there's no Tarte in your area. I don't have much from them, but the blushes are especially worth trying.

  10. I agree, it looks very similar to Deep Throat. Both Tarte and NARS blushes are so marked up here in Canada that I've decided to not pursue them unless I can score a great deal. But Glisten is really pretty and very much of a Dovey colour. :D

    1. Hi Liz, thanks for the Canadian angle! It's interesting to hear that the markup on products does vary (although in this case it doesn't sound so good).
