MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Brow in #15 Blonde is the medium tone in the Sephora available line. I apply it by squeezing a very small amount onto the back of my hand and using an angled brush to apply. It's best to work quickly while the product is still in gel form. I would love to have a synthetic like MAKE UP FOR EVER Eyebrow Brush in #9N to apply Aqua Brow since it's a gel. Aqua Brow does last the whole workday for me, which is better than my current eyebrow powder. It lasts in water, but not against soap or a lot of rubbing. (It is waterproof, but not as irremovable as the Aqua Rouge reviewed here). I do like the squeeze tube form. I think it's quite hygenic, which is good to avoid potential breakouts.
Overall, Aqua Brown is another MAKE UP FOR EVER success. You can bet my brows will be done when going to the pool from now on, but more importantly, it's also a very welcome addition to my everyday routine. I'm so intrigued by this--but I'm a little worried that it won't look as natural as my brow powder. More than anything, I hate it when my brows look obviously filled in or drawn on. But, I will say that my mom actually just got her brows done the other day at Sephora with this product and it looked really good on her, so it's worth a try. I'm eyeing Ash or Taupe

ReplyDeleteHi J, Thanks!! I'd been wanting to try this forever! I was pretty surprised that the color worked for me; it is a little light but makes for a natural effect. I really like the color range too; it's more broad than for a typical brow line

DeleteAhh I need this! I usually use the Bobbi Brown Eye Brow Brush and Sable to fill in my brows. They work really well and I don't have any problems with it not lasting on me. When I need a sturdier brow filler I have Bobbi Brown Brow Shaper in Mahogany. I'll have to get my shade matched at the counter though. Despite the fact that my hair is dark, my brows are naturally very sparse and if I fill them in too dark I look VERY harsh!
ReplyDeleteHi Sunny, Bobbi Brown Sable and Mahogany are really high on my brow wishlist! There was a kit with one or both of those colors that was interested in, though the full eyeshadow is more useful!
DeleteIt looks SO warm. I could never wear that colour. I'm a medium blonde, and I use Bobbi Brown Slate eyeshadow - no warmth, redness or weird orange tint whatsoever. But I do love the idea of this being waterproof! Does it dry matte or how is the finish?
ReplyDeleteHih Ida, it is quite warm for a color. I'm pretty warm for summer now so it kind of looks like a shadow on my skin which is nice. The finish is like powder. Totally matte!
DeleteSounds nice with a matte finish! I wonder how dark I'd have to go to get a cool or just neutral color. It really does sound like the perfect product - well, apart from the colour selection I guess :D
DeleteCan anyone discuss the difference between a powder and the gel? I have tried wax and I looked groucho marxish with grease paint. I tried pencil and I looked like a 3 year old drew on my face. I have heavy brows with longish hairs but holes in parts, wondering if its application/skill or texture that is doing me in. I may head to Sephora to see if a consultant will assist. Don't understand how so many people are good at filling in eyebrows.
ReplyDeleteThe gel starts as a gel, but dries almost instantly into a powder form! It's very different from wax. Wax stays wax. I can't get it to work for me; plus the one I tried ended up breaking me out around the brows! I have the opposite problem--- not enough brows! I like starting application from the arch (I don't know if that helps) and blending upwards! I find that light small strokes works well too, especially if the product is really pigmented!

DeleteI bought the darkest colour about three years ago but returned it because it felt too dark. The product was phenomenal though! I'd definitely get it if I had the patience to test for a better match. Right now I'm using the MUFE brow pencil actually, which is very good as well. :)

DeleteI have no current brow regime other than tidy through plucking. The idea of using a shade like Nars Blondie to slightly darken my brows has been appealing.

Great review, Dovey. My eyes immediately zeroed in on Ash, but I would have a harder time getting my hands on that one, and I certainly wouldn't be able to see it first.
ReplyDeleteThe three sold at Amazon look warm, but I wonder if the Light Blonde might work for me, especially if I combined it with my YSL pencil in Ash.
Gaa, I meant MUFE Taupe. That one looks practically grey! Which is what my light charcoal brows need.
