Recently I wore a look composed of lavender and apricot. The combination of the cool blue lavender on the eyes with a warm golden apricot on the cheeks was a complimentary and unexpectedly fresh. The look centered around the pale lavender grey NARS 413 BLKR eyeshadow and the NARS South Beach multiple. NARS 413 BLKR (reviewed here) gives my eyes a brightening lavender sheen that works for spring. Subtlety works well for this look since the colors are contrasting. NARS South Beach is a new love of mine. I shyed away from it for a long time since it seems warm and orange toned in a heavy swatch. However, when worn sheered out, South Beach becomes a healthy apricot glow.
The rest of my face was very basic. I kept my lips a natural pale color with Revlon Sugar Frosting (reviewed here), but a lot of other nudes are interchangeable. Lately I've gone back to using NARS Larger Than Life eyeliner in Via Veneto as a quick, easy, and long lasting liner (reviewed here). NARS Coconut Grove eyeshadow (reviewed here) was for my brows. For my face, I used Make Up For Ever HD foundation in #118 and NARS Concealer in Vanilla. For my lashes, I've been using a Lancome Cils Booster XL mascara base and a newly opened tube of MAC Zoom Lash. I'm hooked on using lash primers lately; I think they do make a difference. So far I'm pleased with Zoom Lash; it's not my favorite brush or formula, but a good product for the price.
Thanks for checking out my current color story! Have you ever tried this combination? How have you been keeping things fresh this spring?
Love, Dovey.
I'm loving lavender right now too! I need to check out this NARS shadow now! The multiples kind of scare me though-does this one have sparkles?
ReplyDeleteHi Tracy! I noticed from your blog too! I don't think there are sparkles (at least not in my definition of sparkles) but there is a definite sheen. In general sheen is good for me so it makes me happy :)
DeleteI haven't found a nice lavender for me yet. I still can't decide which one I want: more pastel or more cool toned, ashy. I am into oranges as well and I really like your colour combo. I think zoomlash was my first mascara ever :D
ReplyDeleteHi Calire, both sound like good choices :) What a fun anecdotes about Zoomlash! It seems like a good mascara to start on
DeleteI'm really into lavender, but haven't thought of pairing it with apricot or peach tones! That shadow is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe combination is new to me too :) I love 413 BLKR; it was definitely a worthwhile purchase for me :)
DeleteWhat a beautiful palette! I am eying that South Beach Multiple very very closely. Need!
ReplyDeleteHi Arianne - thanks! I was eye-ing it closely too and ended up with it! :)
DeleteI don't think I've tried lavender and apricot together, but the shades look great paired together in your swatch! South Beach is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks Stacey! I <3 South beach a lot too!
DeletePretty!
ReplyDeleteI've been wearing the light shade from Paramaribo over Mac Indianwood paint pot for my spring kick.
Hi Mopsy, that combination sounds earthy yet exotic! Paramaribo was such a beautiful duo--- I'm always this close to taking another look at it!
DeleteI would never have thought to pair these two products! I'm still on the fence about 412BLKR, but I think it may find its way into my cart when I'm ordering NARS summer this weekend.
ReplyDelete♥ Jessica
Hi Jessica, ohmygosh you're right, summer is coming out this weekend!! So excited :) :) :)
DeleteCAN NOT WAIT!
DeleteThe trio has been pre-ordered and I have an appointment with a Nars make-up artist, hurrrrrraaaaah!
Love the color combo! I just re-did my nails using Essie's To Buy or Not To Buy, a pinky lavender polish... and now I'm inspired to incorporate apricot! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jess---- pinky lavender sounds wonderful--- I cam imagine it with an apricot dress or top =D
DeletePretty as always, Dovey! Now you have me curious about Sugar Frosting. I have yet to find a nude that works for me! I think it doesn't exist!
ReplyDeleteThanks Larie! Sugar frosting is quite pale--- I hope you find the nude you want!
Deletewhoa the swatches on the arm is showing quite possibly the perfect spring palette, amazing FOTD description with amazing products!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much J! You're making me feel like I'm on cue :)
DeleteLOVE this color combo! I totally want South Beach now. I think I have seen it before and remember thinking it looked gorgeous, but paired with 413BLKR it's even more stunning!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Danielle =D South beach seems to work well with the 'orange' tinted themes going on this year!
DeleteReally pretty colour combo! 413 BLKR looks lovely in your swatch and so does South Beach. I haven't had much luck with NARS Multiples, but I'm really tempted to give them another go. There are some lovely shades available in the range!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nat! I think the NARS multiples do have variable results depending on the person--- I think they work nicely with a stippling brush!
DeleteThis sounds like a lovely look! South Beach was one of the first multiples I ever tried and I remember I really loved it! This reminds me I need to start using it again :) Great post :)
ReplyDeleteThank you MM! The window into your makeup history was fun to hear!
