NARS Vestale Nail Polish

NARS Vestale nail polish is a beautiful ballet-slipper pink polish that appeared as an exclusive during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale this year. It was the most popular of the three that were released, and may or may not be available at counters at this time. I've been in the market for a good nude pink for a while, and Vestale fit the bill perfectly. It's light pink, with a touch of nude. Most nude polish I've come across is too dark, while most light pinks are too candy pink. As Goldilocks would say, this one is "just right"!

As someone who favors creme polish finishes, NARS certainly has a nice selection. Usually I'm not excited by the "secret shimmer" found in most Chanel polish, as most of my polish wear is on my toes. I just don't like the feeling of nail polish on my fingers; I hope that doesn't make me a weirdo. I don't have vast experience with high end polish, but I have used numerous OPIs. As a creme polish lover, I love NARS's formulation. It's goopy, yes, but it gets better over time (see more thoughts here) and I have enough dexterity to make it work. However, the quick dry time (possibly faster than Dior) and really resilient and shiny finish make it a big winner in my book. Whatever polymer formulation they're using really works for me, but may not for everyone.

By the way, the cap on NARS polish doesn't come off like Dior or Chanel polish. You actually have to wield the whole thing to paint your nails. I prefer this to a tiny nubbin type cap, but it's another personal preference type thing for folks to think about. As for my nail swatches of NARS Vestale, the first photo is probably the most accurate. The others are in full sun and are a tad washed out. Two to three coats were used, depending how I felt about the opacity of each nail.

Here are my comparison pinks to NARS Vestale. None are quite similar, they're all too candy or cool. I think OPI Bubble Bath might be similar, maybe darker and sheerer. I don't own it and it's a just a wild guess.

And a nice Degas to go with the pink ballet slipper theme.  Isn't the pastel so ethereal and beautiful?

Thanks for reading my review of NARS Vestale nail polish. It's a classic pick that I'm truly pleased with. I wore this non-stop as my pedi for most of the last month. I've been feeling nude polish on the toes lately; it hasn't been a really bright polish kind of summer for me. My current nude collection is very limited, so I'd enjoy any thoughts or recs you have!

Love, Dovey

  3. Really pretty! I haven't tried any NARS nail colours yet, but have been tempted by a few of the shades I've seen recently (including this one). The formulation sounds nice too!

  10. Was this streaky? I tried Essie's Topless and Barefoot (don't know about that name) and it was streaky - so annoying!!

It looks lovely on you. Yes, I love nude toes too because you can wear any open toe/sandal and not worry if your pedi doesn't matche you shoe.

  11. Jamilla- yep!

Kelly-awesome. Go polish nudists! Degas definitely are beautiful. I'd love to see more.

Nat - fortunately there aren't too many shades to be tempted by! I have my eye on a couple of the reds.

Amy- I'm glad you liked the Degas too. The art is something new I'm trying out! I bet they have it at a counter somewhere, which means it can be shipped in =)

Larie- glad you agree with my assessment

Sarah- how did you know that's one shade of nude I've been wanting forever?? I love SOPIs, and have a nail swatch of that one in a previous post somewhere...

Penelope- Thanks! beautiful yet serene is a good way to describe it

Lexi- Hm, it was a bit uneven, but like you said some of the lighter ones are just annoying. I don't know why it took me so long to figure out I liked nude toes. makeup underachiever here!

  16. It's a nice nude! But definitely not like Bubble Bath. The new formula is way more pink, and the old formula is a very pale milky pink or a sheer white with a hint of pink.

  17. Very pretty! The pink tones in this polish complement you skin tone quite nicely. I loveeee Degas- he is my fav and I have numerous art books about him!

  18. Hi Poetic Realist - thanks for the clarification. I've always liked Bubble Bath whenever I see it in the bottle- I had no idea there were different versions!

Tasha- Awesome! I love that you have art books about Degas, that's awesome!
